Junk Removal in York, PA — Yorke & Sons Dumpster Rental York

Junk doesn’t clear itself, and not every job needs a full-size dumpster sitting on the driveway for a week. We run junk removal out of the yard at 430 Loucks Rd in West Manchester Township two ways: a load-it-yourself container you fill at your own pace, or a full-service crew that does the loading and hauling for you — whichever fits the job better in and around York.

What we handle on junk removal jobs

  • Load-it-yourself dumpsters for jobs you’d rather tackle on your own timeline
  • Full-service option where our crew does the lifting and hauling
  • Flat-rate pricing either way, quoted before anything is booked
  • Fast turnaround from our West Manchester Township yard
  • Works for single items, garage cleanouts, or whole-property jobs
  • No job too small — a couch and a few bags still get picked up
  • Clear rules on prohibited items explained before you book
  • Coverage across York and every town in our service area

Load-It-Yourself vs. Full-Service

A load-it-yourself dumpster makes sense when you have the time and ability to move items yourself and want to control the pace — it’s usually the more economical route for bigger volumes. Full-service junk removal makes sense when the items are heavy, awkward, or numerous enough that hauling them yourself isn’t practical, or when you simply don’t have the time. Tell us which fits and we’ll set it up on the same call.

What We Take

Furniture, appliances that no longer hold refrigerant, mattresses, general household junk, yard debris, and construction leftovers are all fair game. Paint, fuel, oil, chemicals, solvents, lead-acid batteries, tires, medical waste, and refrigerant-holding appliances can’t go in a container. Electronics, computers, TVs, and monitors fall under Pennsylvania’s Covered Device Recycling Act (details from PA DEP) and need a certified recycler instead. Asbestos is never accepted in any form.

Sizing a Junk Removal Job

A handful of items or a single-room cleanout usually fits a 10 yard. Clearing a garage, basement, or a full apartment’s worth of furniture typically calls for a 15 or 20 yard. If you’re not sure, describe what’s coming out and we’ll size the container — better to size up slightly than to run out of room mid-job.

Permits for Junk Removal Placement

Pennsylvania counties don’t issue right-of-way permits — York County itself has no general permit office for local roads. Instead, each of York County’s 72 municipalities (the City of York, its boroughs, and its townships) permits its own streets directly. A container set on your own driveway almost never needs a permit anywhere in the county. If a job genuinely has nowhere to put a box but the street or a sidewalk, the call is to that specific municipality’s own office — for jobs inside the City of York that means the City of York Bureau of Permits and Inspections; everywhere else it means that borough or township’s own office. A handful of corridors are state-numbered routes (US-30, I-83, PA-74, PA-124, PA-462, PA-116, PA-851, US-15) — placement directly on one of those needs a PennDOT District 8 Highway Occupancy Permit as well. We flag this for you when we quote the job, and driveway placement covers the vast majority of deliveries we run out of the Loucks Road yard.

FAQs

Junk Removal questions, answered

Do you offer full-service junk removal or just dumpster drop-off?

Both — tell us which you’d prefer when you call. Load-it-yourself is typically the more economical option; full-service is faster if you’d rather not do the lifting.

Will you take a single old couch?

Yes, no job is too small. A single-item pickup or a small load still gets scheduled, just with a smaller container or a quick full-service stop.

Can you take old appliances?

Appliances that no longer hold refrigerant are fine. Anything still holding refrigerant — a working fridge or AC unit, for example — needs separate handling; ask us and we’ll point you to the right disposal route.

What about old TVs and computers?

Those fall under Pennsylvania’s Covered Device Recycling Act and have to go to a certified electronics recycler rather than into a dumpster — we can point you to the current PA DEP guidance if you need it.

How fast can junk removal happen?

Often same-day if you call before midday, depending on route availability. Full-service jobs can sometimes be scheduled faster than a dumpster drop-off since there’s no fill time involved.
