What’s Never Allowed

Every size we place excludes paint, fuel, oil, chemicals, solvents, lead-acid batteries, tires, medical waste, and appliances still holding refrigerant. Electronics, computers, TVs, and monitors fall under Pennsylvania’s Covered Device Recycling Act and need a certified recycler rather than a roll-off (CDRA details from PA DEP). Asbestos is never permitted in any container, in any size, under any circumstance — that always requires licensed abatement.

Permits Across the Size Range

Pennsylvania counties don’t issue right-of-way permits — York County itself has no general permit office for local roads. Instead, each of York County’s 72 municipalities (the City of York, its boroughs, and its townships) permits its own streets directly. A container set on your own driveway almost never needs a permit anywhere in the county. If a job genuinely has nowhere to put a box but the street or a sidewalk, the call is to that specific municipality’s own office — for jobs inside the City of York that means the City of York Bureau of Permits and Inspections; everywhere else it means that borough or township’s own office.
